SIMONE MORENO

Born in Salvador de Bahia, her interest in music began very early. At only 17, she sang with trio-eléctrico all over El Salvador and recorded with the group Novos Barbaros the hit "A terra tremeu", which began as the theme of a famous carnival troupe in the city, and which ended up as a hit all over Brazil.

In 1994, Simone's solo career took off, with "Simone Moreno". Very well received by both critics and the public, this album retains the soul of the music of the great composers of Bahia and Rio, such as Caymmi and Gilberto Gil. With the song "Eh moça", Simone once again has success all over the country. The following album "Morena" (produced by Pepeu Gomes), is a compendium of the roots of Brazilian music. Simone was already singing a variety of styles at the time.

Having become an Afro-Brazilian superstar and having toured across Brazil, Europe, the United States and Japan, Simone is ready to take on new challenges and, after moving to Rio, the third album "Manda me chamar" comes out. It is a beautiful samba record, produced by the famous producer Rildo Hora, very well received by critics and praised by the great sambistas of Rio (such as Martinho da Vila, Paulinho da Viola and Noca da Portela), who have also contributed to the album.

The latest release in Brazil, "Desde que o samba é samba", is a tribute to samba and bossa nova composers such as Barroso, Jobim and Buarque and the album was produced by guitarist Roberto Menescal - one of founders of the bossa nova movement - which produced Elis Regina, Emílio Santiago and Leila Pinheiro among others. Menescal is impressed with Simone's sincere interpretations in the studio: "She's an expert singer, who captures every situation she sings and has the strength of a wild horse on stage. Watch her sing yourself to be witness to his look, his feeling and his immense energy."

However, Simone's journey around the planet is far from over. In 2001 Simone moved to Sweden after meeting the Swedish musician and producer Anders von Hofsten, and the album "Samba Makossa" - a tribute to Brazilian music, with beautiful versions of songs by Chico Science and Jorge Ben, among others , released in 2006. It was recorded with musicians from the great cold and became a great success, with the hit "Vem pra Bahia", widely broadcast on Swedish radio.

Simone became a well-known artist in Scandinavia, and notably took part in the Swedish Grand Prix Melodie, sang in front of Gilberto Gil during the Polar Prize ceremony and recorded house records with producers such as Rasmus Faber and SUMO.

After touring for several years in Scandinavia and Europe, the brand new album "Planetas" is released. It's a journey through everything Simone has been through, musically and emotionally, and retains only original songs, written by the singer with her funky band Os Lourinhos. Filled with soulful reggae, swinging samba and bouncy afro pop, it received stellar reviews and was a hit with live music... Once again, Europeans get to see the mighty queen of afro samba on stages closer than those located between the mountains and the sea of Brazil.
